Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are grown on the Kest vineyard. Only one wine is made from these grapes, a meritage blend. All fruit is harvested and blended together. Before being bottled the wine is kept in French oak for a minimum of sixteen months.
All vines in the vineyard are "bush" or "goblet" vines, named because of their shape. Each vine is freestanding. This is incredibly labour intensive as each vine must be hand harvested and individually pruned without the use of trellising. However this does optimise the quality of the fruit. This style of growing originated in France and was a traditional style used in the Bordeaux.
A number of four hundred year old eucalypts grow on the property and it is said that one can detect a slight hint of eucalyptus in the wine, making it uniquely Australian.
Although located in the Barossa region, the vineyard’s higher elevation, combined with the unique Viticultural and production methods, produce an elegant medium bodied red wine
